From fun outdoor activities to historic architecture, Will Rogers State Historical Park has it all. In 1944, actor Will Rogers' family donated his 31 room house and the 186-acre surrounding grounds so that it could become a state historic park. Take a tour of the ranch, watch a polo game, go on a horseback ride, or take a two mile scenic hike. This is a rare chance to see how a star of the Silver Screen lived.
Located on the flood control basin of the Hansen Dam, Hansen Dam Recreation Area is an extensive recreational park. It features two artificial lakes - one for fishing and the other for swimming. The fishing lake also allows paddling and rowing. Both of these water bodies are manned by life guards. Picnic spots, equestrian, hiking and walking trails, a skate park, playground and restrooms are added amenities of this place.
San Fernando’s iconic brewery, the San Fernando Brewing Company is famous for its in-house brewed craft beers and delicious bites all over California. The on-site tap room is always bustling with beer aficionados and offers a range of fun activities, apart from freshly brewed beers. The rustic interior décor with multiple wooden tables and chairs, free offerings of pretzels and popcorn, board games for leisure and weekly food trucks add to the vibrant and eclectic vibe of this brewery and tap room. St. Luke's Episcopal Church is a friendly Long Beach church that was built in 1917 and then later rebuilt after the 1933 earthquake. The church welcomes everybody and has become known for its support of LGBT issues to show how Christianity is welcoming to all. St. Luke's Episcopal Church conducts regular prayer meetings and services and also holds cultural events on a regular basis.
Designed by H.M Patterson, the First Congregational Church of Long Beach is an active church built in the Italian Romanesque Revival architectural a style. Built in 1914, the church’s clergy include renowned senior pastor Elena Larssen and pastor John Forrest Douglas. The church even has its well-known musical choir to boast. Added to the U.S National Register of Historic Places in 2012, the church is a redbrick structure, boasting of a high roof that reaches upto the height of 55 feet (16.76 meters) art glass windows and rose windows. It also actively supports the gay, lesbian and transgender community of the city. Cypress College situated in the heart of the city is a community college with a 110-acre (44.5 hectares) campus. Designed by popular architect Frank Lawyer in 1966, the many buildings at this campus reflect futuristic architecture. The lake situated in the center of the campus is beautiful and an attraction amongst the students of the college. Cypress College offers excellent academics, athletics and art programs for the students ensuring their overall development.
