Surface Noise opened its doors to the folks of Louisville in 2016 and has been a local favorite since then. Touted as the city's leading vinyl record store, their collections include albums from various eras. It also functions as a used bookstore, an art gallery, and a venue for small-scale music performances.
Located on the Lexington Road and almost hidden away by the hill, The Workhouse Ballroom is a long and narrow stone building that is used for hosting events. Its calender features happening parties, social events and concerts by local and national performers. These events are mostly BYOB, so one can get a bottle of beer from the nearby bars and head for a party at this ballroom. Artists/ bands like Jozef Van Wissem, Spirits of the Red City and Bill Callahan have graced the stage of this unassuming venue in the past.

Headliners is a Louisville institution that has hosted top local and national performers over the years. A mid-sized venue, the hall hosts an eclectic line up of performers of various genres from hip-hop to metal, bluegrass, and rock. Past performances include Disclosure, Kings of Leon, Dr. Dog, and Girl Talk. Housed in an early 20th-century building, the acoustics are excellent and the ambiance is lively. The sound of the auto races has been roaring through Portland for 70 years, and these days, it's NASCAR stock car races every Friday night. In the beginning of July, there's a Destruction Derby with fireworks. Other fun events include 300-lap Enduro races Memorial Day and Labor Day. The season runs April through September.
