Allman Brothers Band Museum

The Allman Brothers Band Musuem, or also known as The Big House is the residence home of the members of The Allman Brothers Band. The Big House Foundation, in the year 2009 created a museum out of the residence home in dedication to the band. The 18-room house has each room filled with their memorabilia and merchandise through the years of their existence in the music industry. Each of the rooms is used for a different purpose and showcases different kinds of artifacts in accordance to the items, of which some are on sale as well.

Amerson River Park

Although its called a park, Amerson River Park is quite massive, covering an area of 180 acres (73 hectares). Featuring picturesque trails, playgrounds as well as a unique canoeing facility, the park is ideal for a day out with the family.

Rose Hill Cemetery

Set in a serene landscape, Rose Hill Cemetery attracts a lot of attention in the area. Many notable personalities have been buried here and this is one of the oldest of the region. The place is well worth a visit.

Ocmulgee Mounds National Historical Park

Located an hour away to the south of Atlanta, this well-preserved national monument is dedicated to the cultures that once lived on the Macon Plateau. There are several ancient ceremonial mounds remaining on the site, some surrounded by prehistoric trenches, and one ceremonial lodge has an earthen floor dating back 1000 years. An on-site museum, located within Ocmulgee National Monument's visitor center, offers detailed accounts of the civilizations that once peopled these fertile regions.

Johnston-Felton-Hay House

This restored mansion still retains most of its 19th Century glory. Visited by a large number of people everyday, this house is of high historical significance. Guided tours are offered.

Tubman Museum

Discover the African American culture at the Tubman Museum that was established in the year 1981. The museum displays a number of exhibits based on the culture, history, and traditions of the African American populace. You can participate in the number of events that are organized by the museum association to get acquainted with the rich culture. You can also enroll in the classes for dancing, drama, and photography at the museum itself.
