Aguirre School

"Neo-Mudéjar Towers"

A spectacular and unique example of architecture of its kind in Madrid, this neo-mudéjar building of red tiles, red brick and ironwork features wonderful Arabic geometrical flourishes that are reminiscent of medieval buildings all over old Castille. You'll find it in the modern district of Salamanca on the corner in which Alcalá and O'Donnell streets meet. It was designed by architect Rodríguez Ayuso to be a school for the intellectual Lucas Aguirre, and now houses council offices. It is not open to the public.
