A chalk hill between Maidstone and Rochester, Blue Bell Hill is known for the chalk quarrying that took place on it in the 18th and 19th centuries. Thanks to the presence of rare plants on its southern side, Blue Bell Hill is a Site of Special Scientific Interest. The hill also features a resting and picnic spot for tourists on the North Down Ways atop the hill. A modern crematorium, a transmitting station, and prehistoric tombs also feature on the hill.
