Parque de Málaga

These botanical gardens feature species of plants and trees brought in from all over the world. The mild climate allows them all to flourish on land reclaimed from the sea in 1897. You'll come across squares and monuments dedicated to important figures from Malaga's history including the statue and theatre in honour of Eduardo Ocón. Live performances are put on for free during spring and in summer. On the other side of the avenue there's the old gardener's house (now a Tourist Office) as well as the Bank of Spain, the Palacio de la Aduana (Customs House) and the Ayuntamiento (Town Hall).

Plaza de Toros La Malagueta

Close to Malagueta beach, we find the capital's majestic bullring, Plaza de Toros La Malagueta, designed by Joaquín Rucoba. Its construction work started in 1874 and was interrupted, only to be resumed the next year and inaugurated in June 1876. The bullring, built in Neo-Mudejar style and with a seating capacity of 15,000, has seen glorious bullfights starring great bullfighters like Curro Romero, Manolete and El Cordobés. The famous and young bullfighter, Javier Conde, has also fought bulls here.

Tivoli World

The Tivoli Amusement Park is located in Arroyo de la Miel, a complex within the Benalmadena town limits. Tivoli World has been the only amusement park of its kind on the Costa del Sol for more than 20 years now. It has a wide range of attractions and rides for children and adults, and features daily shows by national and international performers. They also give you the chance to visit their gardens, which are very beautiful and interesting from a botanical point of view. To get there: Take the Autovia del Mediterraneo and leave it at junction 223, heading towards Benalmadena-Arroyo de la Miel. You can also get there by train or bus. Tickets are available at most travel agencies and hotels on the Costa del Sol. This place is open on weekends from noon. Call ahead for varied dates.

Parque Fluvial de Fuengirola

Set along the mouth of Rio de Fuengirola river, Parque Fluvial de Fuengirola is a spacious multi-facility park. It features a playground for children, several football fields, basketball courts, a bowling area and multiple ping pong tables. Visitors can also walk and ride along the park’s walking and cycling track that leads to promenade on the beach. Other attractions in the area includes Sake Park Ignacio Echeverría. This pet-friendly beachside park is a great place to visit with families with children.

Puerto Deportivo de Fuengirola

Located adjacent to Playa de San Francisco beach in Costa del Sol, Puerto Deportivo de Fuengirola is a bustling harbor. It is equipped with several piers and moorings. This lively port offers a number of sports and fishing-related activities. Visitors can dock their boat here and spend the day exploring the nearby promenade Paseo Maritimo. This seven-kilometers (4 miles) long promenade is lined with local restaurants, bars and cafes that offer delectable traditional eats and fresh seafood.

Caminito del Rey

One of the most dangerous yet strikingly impressive mountain trails of the world, Caminito del Rey is found close to El Chorro, a tiny hamlet known for its rock climbing opportunities. The trail is more than a century old and stands tall at 100 meters (350 feet). Risky to navigate, the trail passes through dizzy limestone cliffs into a scenic valley. After being restored by the efforts of various authorities, Caminito del Rey was opened to hikers in 2014. Lonely Planet named it one of the best new attractions to explore in 2015.
