Parque de Málaga

These botanical gardens feature species of plants and trees brought in from all over the world. The mild climate allows them all to flourish on land reclaimed from the sea in 1897. You'll come across squares and monuments dedicated to important figures from Malaga's history including the statue and theatre in honour of Eduardo Ocón. Live performances are put on for free during spring and in summer. On the other side of the avenue there's the old gardener's house (now a Tourist Office) as well as the Bank of Spain, the Palacio de la Aduana (Customs House) and the Ayuntamiento (Town Hall).

Real Santuario de Santa María de La Victoria

Real Santuario de Santa María de La Victoria, a church built between the 15th and 18th centuries, is located in the place where the Catholic Monarchs (Ferdinand and Isabella) set up camp during the siege of Málaga. It is one of the most well-known religious enclaves in the city, and houses the image of the Patron Saint of Málaga, Santa María de la Victoria. It is a particularly busy place during Easter Week due to the Guild associated with it. Both the church and the square where it is located have recently been restored.

Museum of Popular Arts and Customs (Málaga)

Come here to learn a little more about the capital and its people. Museo Unicaja de Artes Populares houses a multitude of objects used from the 17th-20th centuries such as fishing equipment, farming implements, furniture, clothing and household items. The building dates back to the 17th century, and the historical period has been recreated in the museum. The main treasures are the ceramic figures representing popular personalities of the capital like the cenachero; a 19th century fish seller who walked the streets with baskets of fish hanging from his shoulders. There is a newspaper library and public archives as well.

La Rosaleda Stadium

Situated in a football-crazy city, Estadio La Rosaleda is unsurprisingly one of the most loved sporting venues in Malaga. Home to football club Malaga CF- which also happens to rank among the elite clubs in Spain, this stadium has played host to some of the most captivating matches in Spanish football. With a spectator capacity of 30,044 and state-of-the-art facilities, watching a game here is seldom a let-down.

Museo del Patrimonio Municipal de Málaga

One of the few spaces available for contemporary art in Malaga, Museo del Patrimonio Municipal de Málaga opened in 1999, with three floors to house temporary exhibitions organized by the Town Hall's cultural department. Paintings, sculptures and photographs by national and international artists of the stature of Botero, Brikman and Guayasamín are exhibited. The minimalist and functional modern building was designed by architect Federico Orellana and stands close to both the Town Hall and the Plaza de Toros (bullring). Local couples getting married use the attractive fountain opposite as a backdrop for their wedding photos.
