"Historic Structure"
The Kennesaw House is said to be one of the oldest buildings in the city, built in 1845. The building was constructed as a cotton warehouse but soon was converted into a hotel after Dix Fletcher purchased it. During a battle, it was then turned into a hospital to serve the Confederate army. Extensive renovations took place in 1979 where the outer brick layer was exposed and the interiors were completely brought down beside staircases and a few fireplaces. Today the building houses the Marietta Museum of History as well as few other offices.
