Between Brisbane and Bundaberg in the Wide Bay-Burnett is Wongi State Forest, boasting eucalyptus forests as far as the eye can see. The landscape is also dotted with hoop pine trees and marked by various waterholes. One if its lakes, Lake Lenthall, even acts as a regional water supply. Follow the National Bicentennial Trail through the park to a picnic spot, or stay longer at a campsite. Swimming is welcome though fishing is not allowed at Wongi State Forest.
