Blue Bay Beach

The beautiful strip of sand adjoining the Blue Bay is not only a scenic spot but also offers plenty activities. Home to some breathtaking coral gardens, the beach is a haven for snorkeling enthusiasts. As you dive deeper, you witness about 72 different types of corals and 32 types of fish that have made the Bay their abode. And if you’d like to get a hold of the scientific information about the Bay’s rich marine life you can hop into the visitor center that is on the opposite side. Boats that take you to the Marine park of the Bay from the beach are available. To sail in a glass-bottomed boat is an experience in itself.

Pieter Both

Towering over the city of Port Louis, the Pieter Both is a majestic peak of Mauritius. Second highest in the island nation, it rises to 820 meters (2,690 feet). The peak is named after the first Governor General of the Dutch East Indies. Once home to world's rarest palm species, the steely, rugged surface of the peak dominates the soft verdure of the lower lands. Deemed to be one of the most difficult mountains to climb, the distinct rock formation at the top makes it a worthwhile climb. Often compared to a human head, several stories and legends have been associated with the unknown origins of this peculiar structure. A challenge for adventurous trekkers and hikers, the peak offers spectacular panoramas of the verdant landscapes of Mauritius.

Sir Seewoosagur Ramgoolam Botanical Garden

Sir Seewoosagur Ramgoolam Botanical Garden or the locally known SSR Garden is a botanical garden, founded in 1770 by Pierre Poivre. The highlight of the garden being the huge water lilies, it also features exotic and rare varieties of plants and flowers. You can check-out the garden all by yourself or simply avail the guided tour services. Please note that different admission charges are applicable for foreign nationals.

Pointe d'Esny Beach

Located on the south-eastern coast of the island, a little further from the historic town of Mahebourg, the Pointe d'Esny beach is a sight to behold. The clear, turquoise blue waters of the lagoon lay off its coast, separating the Ile aux Aigrettes from the village. Its proximity to the island makes it a favored point of departure for excursions, cruises and boat rides. So, while you are discovering the island's main attractions, do make sure that this beach is on your itinerary, for it definitely merits a visit.

Domaine du Chasseur

Domaine du Chasseur is a nature reserve situated along the South-eastern fringes of Mauritius. This popular tourist attraction spreads across over 1,000 hectares, and is abound with flora and fauna. Besides trees like ebony, eucalyptus and the palm, at the reserve, one can also observe some rare species of animals and birds like the Mauritian Kestrel, boars and monkeys. The reserves also offer splendid views of the surrounding sugarcane fields and the vast ocean bed. An on-site restaurant takes care of all gastronomic needs after a tiring safari. Labourdonnais Orchards

The scintillating scent of exotic fruits is what guides you to these orchards. Spread over a massive area of 50 hectares, the Labourdonnais Orchards provide a green haven for travelers, especially during the hot summer. Visitors can relish the various fruits, like guavas, jackfruits, bananas, and passion fruits. Besides, there are also a range of indigenous flowers, raised in greenhouses, like orchids, bougainvilleas and hibiscus. It is recommended that visitors rent a bike, available on the site, and discover these amazing orchards.
