"The Switzerland of America"

Although the Andes stretch from Venezuela to the far south of Chile, the particular relief of this mountain range in the State of Mérida, make it particularly attractive for rock climbers. Nine summits surpass an altitude of 4,000 metres, from the 4,045 metres of Loma Redonda Peak to the 5,007 metres of Bolívar Peak. Such a topography, combined with a magnificent infrastructure, expert guides, carefully organised and fully equipped excursions, plus the constant supervision and assistance of the National Institute of Parks, help make this "Switzerland of America" so luring, that few climbers can resist.
