Founded by the charming Electra Webb in 1947 and housed in a picturesque round barn, the Shelburne Museum possesses an amazing collection of permanent exhibits that explore the history and culture of this charming town and the surrounding region. The marvelous collection includes Native American art, decorative art, old tools, quilts, impressionist paintings, dolls, furniture, and dollhouses. The Pulp Mill Covered Bridge, or the Paper Mill Covered Bridge, is one of the oldest bridges in Vermont. Located on Pulp Mill Bridge Road, this bridge sits atop Otter Creek and between Weybridge and Middlebury. A wooden covered bridge that features a Burr arch truss design, this is one of the few two-lane covered bridges in the United States. A gurgling stream of water nearby, verdant trees, and beautiful blue skies contribute to the magic of this spot and make it exceptionally photo-worthy.
Located just off the highway is the particularly mesmerizing Warren Falls. This supremely scenic spot is a short hike away from the parking lot. With sparkling, gorgeous greenish-blue water and refreshing clean air, this pictographic waterfall is a fantastic place to go with friends or pets. It features striking stepped cliffs, deep and natural swimming holes, and numerous pathways. This waterfall is a preferred swimming hole for the locals on the Mad River, hence tends to get crowded. Frequented by locals and tourists, cliff jumping is one of the most popular activities to indulge in here.
Warren Covered Bridge is one of the many panoramic bridges in Vermont. Located over Mad River, this covered bridge is visually very appealing. Built by Walter Bagley in 1870, this wooden bridge underwent a comprehensive renovation in 2000. Also called the Lincoln Gap Bridge, it features a covered queen-post truss design and is a holdover from an era gone by. Visiting the Warren Covered Bridge in autumn is a photographer's dream come true as the trees bathed in fall colors with the beautiful landscape make for a stunningly arresting backdrop.
This beautiful Essex County Fairgrounds is truly a historic county fair. Comprising of 15 buildings that contribute to the fairgrounds, some of the structures are the Grandstand, Judge's Stand, Floral Hall and the Racetrack, which were said to be the original sites of the fair when it first started. The two levels rectangular structure is the Cooperative Extension Building that is in it's Colonial Revival style and the most added beauty is the lantern that is added on the top having eight sided shaped dome.
