Mijas

Mijas is an attractive town on the Costa del Sol, famous for its picturesque donkey-taxi service. When you enter the town from the Fuengirola road, you will find the "taxi" stand with these funny "vehicles," which are the best means of transport to go around this town's typical Andalusian narrow streets and squares. Also, you should definitely visit the tiny bullring, the two churches in Mudejar style and the sanctuary of the town's patron saint, the Virgen de la Peña. There are many souvenir shops where you can buy typical local handicrafts such as embossed silver articles and wicker or esparto items. To get there: take the Autovía del Mediterráneo (dual carriageway) toward Fuengirola. Leave the Autovía at the Mijas-Pueblo junction.
