"Home of the Performing Arts"

The story of the MCT begins in 1970 when fate brought Jim Caron to Missoula. On a whim, he auditioned for the role of 'Sancho' in the Man of La Mancha and was cast opposite Don Collins, forging a lifelong friendship between the two actors. Together, they would go on to establish a theater company that produced child-friendly shows and eventually began to cast child actors, setting the stage for the establishment of what is now known as the Missoula Community Theater and the Missoula Children's Theater. Housed within the MCT Center for the Performing Arts, these two theater companies continue to showcase the performing arts in the city of Missoula and far beyond. Besides producing a variety of plays each year, the MCT also organizes drama lessons, day camps, workshops and international tours for budding child actors, bringing the arts to an ever-wider and ever-younger audience. The Performing Arts Center is a treasure in itself, complete with a theater and lobby, conference and meeting rooms, and various other event spaces.
