"Amongst the City's Oldest Landmarks"

Featuring an assemblage of architectural styles, the butter-yellow Monterrey Cathedral is the seat of the local archdiocese. Its exterior and interior demonstrate different architectural elements, having taken from 1705 until 1791 to complete. A pair of towers zealously guarding its belfries flank the elaborate ornamental work of the facade, while its central nave is one of its most prominent features. Inside, there are paintings of the colonial period to the 19th Century, as well as murals by Angel Zárraga, depicting themes for most of the Franciscan evangelization.
