National Field of Honour in Pointe-Claire is a cemetery dedicated to the veterans who lost their lives while fighting for the nation. The cemetery is run by a private organization called Last Post Fund which ensures that the heroes get their due respect even after their death. The cemetery has a massive entrance called the Gate of Remembrance and also has a chapel called Memorial Chapel on site
Located on the fancy Sherbrooke Street, Notman House is a place you cannot miss visiting. Owned by Sir William Collis, this ancient Greek Revival architecture is the only residential example of its kind. It was designated as a historical monument in 1979. Built entirely out of the local materials, the house featured an inner court and garden as well. This house should definitely not be missed if in this area.
Thanks to the Our Lady of the Harbour statue atop its dome, made famous by poet-songwriter Leonard Cohen, this chapel is known as The Sailor's Church. Inside are original Édouard Meloche (1886) frescoes on wooden slats, and you can look out over the Old Port from an observation tower. The chapel underwent extensive renovations as well as archaeological excavation. The new interpretation center includes artifacts pre-dating the arrival of the New France colonists in 1642.
The Morgan Arboretum, located within the Macdonald Campus of McGill University, covers a reserved land of approximate 245 hectares (610 acres). Serving multiple purposes of recreation, academic education and conservation, the arboretum is known to house many different kinds of flora and fauna, including over 150 species of birds, of which about 100 are bred within the reserve itself. The Morgan Arboretum is also famous for producing maple syrup using traditional methods and techniques, which is commenced in spring after a formal, social sugaring off event.
Fort Chambly is one of the five forts constructed along River Richelieu. Located at the mouth of river, this magnificent fort was built in 1675. Its sole purpose was to save the colony from the Britishers. Today, it is open to the public for exploration. A visit to this place will give you a feel how life was back in the 17th century. The fort has also been marked as a National Historic Site of Canada in 1920, owing to its high historic and architectural value.
