Bois-de-Liesse Nature Park is famous for its old growth hardwood forest, tremendous array of wild flowers and all sorts of wildlife both terrestrial and aquatic. There are trails along peaceful streams. In winter, opportunities for cross-country skiing and snowshoeing abound, with chalets along the way where you can warm up any cold extremities. The interpretation center offers a picnic ground and an open-air base for kids. Parc Marcel-Laurin is sprawled over 15.44 hectares (38.15 acres) and forms an ecological oasis in Saint-Laurent. Visitors can embark on walking trails for activities such as bird watching. The garden surrounds the Bassin de la Brunante pond and the woody wetland is home to diverse land and aquatic fauna and flora. Here, botanists can find more than 175 plant varieties, including Spotted Jewelweed, Soft Agrimony, Honeysuckle, Milkweed, Hackberry and Goldenrod. Operating since 1988, Ecomuseum Zoo is a home to over 150 native animal species. Managed by the Saint-Lawrence Valley Natural History Society, this zoo is spread across 28 acres (11.3 hectare) of land and was built upon the wetlands.
