Swetland Homestead
Swetland Homestead is a well-maintained historic house known for its seventy-year old period rooms and the interiors which are a blend of the past and present. The structure is a classic example of the growth and changes from an agrarian society to an industrialized one. Tours of the house give visitors an understanding of the glory of the days gone by and the evolution of the region.
Kirby Park
Well maintained greenland with a lovely, peaceful pond ensconced in the middle, this park is frequented by walkers, bikers and nature lovers. The park provides ample opportunities for relaxed recreational activities. It is a local favorite for picnics and family evenings out. The park is also host to multiple local fetes and fairs.
Seven Tubs Recreation Area
Not too far from the downtown, the recreational area is nestled in the Pennsylvania mountains. It takes its name from the potholes or tubs that were formed thousands of years ago due to glacial melting. The natural area is easily accessible and is ideal for enthusiastic hikers who are looking for an easy level trail.
River Common
A princely sum of twenty three million was invested in developing this riverside park along the banks of the Susquehanna. The park features a number recreational options and event spaces, like the amphitheatre, gardens, fishing pier and two majestic gateways on either side of Market Street Bridge from the river banks to the city.
Coal Street Park
Coal Street Park is home to the Toyota Sportsplex, as well as a number of other activities, including basketball, tennis, soft ball and soccer. There is a playground and a splash pad for kids.
Luzerne County Historical Society Museum
Founded in 1858, the Luzerne County Historical Society is among the nation's long-standing historical societies. Erected in 1893 as the headquarters of the historical society, Luzerne County Historical Society Museum (LCHS Museum) also was a repository and library. However after the main office and library moved a few numbers down the street in 1972, it has been only a museum. Rotating exhibits focusing on the county's history and culture make it an interesting stop for history lovers. From Native American chronicles to paintings, relics and photographs, there is a story behind every exhibition.

The St. Peter's Cathedral is a historic cathedral located in Scranton, Pennsylvania. Also the mother church of the Roman Catholic Diocese of Scranton, it was built in 1867 in the Romanesque style of architecture by Joel Amsden and Lewis Hancock.
