"A Monument To Political Prisoners"
The Solovetsky Stone is a large granite stone erected as a monument in honor of political prisoners of war from the 20th century. The stone was transported to Moscow from the Solovoki prison camp in the Solovetsky islands and was unveiled to the public on the October 30, 1990 as a part of a political initiative started by the Russian prisoners of war. On the same date next year, the government declared the day to be the Political Repression Victims Remembrance Day.
