Gifu Prefectural Museum

by Hide-sp

"Remote Art"

Located on top of a hill in a contemporary building featuring glass and white tiles, is this museum which is often overlooked because of its remoteness. The permanent collection has bits of everything: ceramics, wood carvings by the priest-artist Enku, Buddhist religious pieces, puppets, Edo period furniture and utensils for hand made paper craft. The museum also boasts a hi-vision hall for multimedia presentations and a computer room with 20 computers, where visitors can participate in interactive, multimedia demonstrations of local historical events.
