Bothe-Napa Valley State Park offers 100 acres (40.4 hectares) of idyllic pastoral environs and campgrounds in Napa Valley. Hike through trails surrounded by maple and oak, have a picnic in the pleasant meadows, enjoy a refreshing swim, or explore sites of historical interests, including the ruins of the valley's first church and a pioneer graveyard. The Ritchey Creek Campground has over 40 secluded family campsites.
Centered around the historic Rancho Petaluma Adobe, the Petaluma Adobe State Historic Park is imbued with historical nuances while also offering visitors the chance to admire the beauty of its surroundings. Step back in time and gain a deeper insight into the lifestyle which prevailed here in the past. Visitors can peruse numerous exhibits and objects showcased at the ranch house and can also choose from several picnic spots scattered across the park's scenic expanse to bask in its picturesque surrounds.
Founded in 1823, the last California mission, Mission San Francisco Solano, served only 11 years before its secularization. Today, the mission is part of the Sonoma State Historic Park in the lovely downtown. It is rather small, but theexhibits are impressive in terms of variety and quality, from watercolor paintings of California missions by Chris Jorgensen to flea-market-finds oil paintings and artifacts. The courtyard is anoasis filled with olive trees, walls of cactus and rosemary. Mission San Francisco Solano has also played a vital role in the wine-making history of the Sonoma county.
Originally built as a prominent Opera House in the downtown area, the Maclay Building was completed in 1870. In the 1900s it was used majorly as a theater and a lecture hall. Later on, it was remodeled to accommodate offices and rental spaces. As of today, the Old Petaluma Opera House is home to a couple of law offices and an Irish pub.
