"A Magical World Beyond the Rocks"

An ethereal world awaits beyond the narrow entrance of the Blue Grotto, a magical realm bathed in a deep blue light while silvery reflections shimmer from the depths of the water. Ana Capri's Blue Grotto is a sea cave that is carved into the cliffs, accessed by a narrow opening that extends a mere one meter above the surface. The water inside the cave emits a fey glow as the sunlight filtering through a submerged opening is refracted, filling the cavern with a ghostly blue light. Interestingly, any object placed in the water takes on a silvery sheen, an optical illusion caused by the tiny bubbles that coat anything that slips beneath the surface. Small rowboats are the only way to access the Blue Grotto, ferrying up to four passengers at a time into this otherworldly enclave. Historically, the cave was the exclusive swimming hole of Emperor Tiberius and the site of a nymphaeum in 30 CE, well-known by the local fishermen and rediscovered by Augustus Kopisch and Ernst Fries in 1826.
