"Beautiful Old Church"

The Santa Maria Egiziaca a Forcella is a splendid baroque structure located in the fourth division of Forcella. Established under the rule of Queen Sancha of Aragon, the church became a center for noble women with the title of Maria Egiziaca. The church derives its name from the fact that its initial facade was in front of the piazza dell'Olmo. The alter hosts Andrea Vaccaro’s “First communion of Santa Maria Egiziaca” and on the sides is Luca Giordano’s “The Conversion and Flight from Egypt".
