South East Forests National Park
"Eucalyptus Groves"
South East Forests National Park was founded in 1997 when several distinct national parks merged to represent the eucalyptus groves and the temperate rainforest of the South Coast region. Eucalyptus covers just over forty percent of the park grounds, providing homes for the threatened smoky mouse and olive whistler, as well as other endangered and non-endangered species. A haven for birdwatchers, the park is a part of the Ulladulla to Merimbula Important Bird Area because of its diverse bird life, notably providing significant habitat for swift parrots. With activities like camping, hiking, and biking, the National Park lures outdoor enthusiasts and nature lovers.
