St. Johannes is a beautiful Gothic hall church, which is also one of the most important churches in Neumarkt in der Oberpfalz. This lovingly restored sandstone building dates back to the 15th Century when it was built during the reign of Count Palatine Johann. Standing tall on the small church square in the town, the building is adorned with a Romanesque font, a late Gothic Madonna, and ornate Gothic panels. A major highlight of the church is its octagonal tower, which defines the picturesque landscape of the town at a height of 72 meters (236.2 feet).
