Located in the central Alps near Drava valley is the Millstatter See or the Millstatter Lake of Carinthia. This water body is a huge fishing spot and bathing area for families during the war season. Boating and sport fishing is very common apart from the swimming at the shore of the lake. Rich in fish population like zander, carp, tench, pike, roach, rudd and many others, this lake gets its name from Millstatt, the market town in the northern area.
Granattor is a symbolic, scenic gate, standing in the middle of wilderness. The stately Schloss Porcia can trace its beginnings to 1533 when Gabriel of Salamanca ordered a beautiful castle to be built by an Italian architect. Weissensee is a freshwater lake that is very popular in the township for bathing and several activities that take place here during summer and winter months. Four boats and one speedboat are the only water vehicles that operate in the lake and the water body comes under the protected zone of Austria. Located within the Gailtal Alps, it is the largest bathing lake at this height in the entire city and houses fish species such as pike, tench, perch, carp and trout. During winters, the lake freezes completely and many ice skating and skiing tournaments are held at this site.
One of the largest chunks of Alps in Austria is the Gailtal Alps, located in East Tyrol and a part of the Southern Limestone Alps. Flanked on either sides by the Gail valley and the Drava River, this mountain range is at a height of 2,770 meters (9,090 feet) from sea level and has the highest peak in the area. The lake of Weißensee can be found in the middle of the mountain lake and is famed as the highest lake in Austria for swimming and bathing.
Located in Carinthia, the Molltaler Polinik peak is a part of the Kreuzeck mountain range in Austria. The highest peak on the summit, this mountain is known for its elevation of 2784 meters (9134 feet) above mean sea level, and is the one of the most beautiful mountains in the region. Its paths and routes pose a stiff challenge for hikers and mountain climbers as it offers great height coupled with steep slopes and stunning scenery from the top.
