The Captain Daniel Packer Inne Restaurant and Pub on Water Street in Mystic is located in an historic home, constructed in 1756 for Captain Packer and his family. The lovely home remained in the family until the mid-1970s, at which time it was restored and converted into a fine restaurant. The upstairs restaurant serves modern New England fare (plenty of seafood) and contemporary American dishes. Or if you prefer something more casual, you can just head downstairs to the bar with its exposed ceiling beams and original stone foundation. The pub has an extensive pub grub menu with everything from chicken wings to burgers, and these foods are served for both lunch and dinner. There is live music after 10p nearly every night. Note that dinner is served from 5p-10p, but the downstairs pub is open until late.

Just across the drawbridge in Downtown Mystic is the Harp & Hound Irish pub. Enjoy traditional Irish pub-grub favorites, like Shepherd's Pie and Bangers & Mash as well as locally-caught seafood all for reasonable prices. If you are looking for a drink after a long day our touring the area, the Harp & Hound is just the place for you to pull up a stool and grab a pint.
Handlebar Cafe is a classic dive and biker bar located on the outskirts of Mystic. The bar welcomes its fair share of regulars who drive up in their Hogs to mingle with fellow biking enthusiasts. The motorbike theme is highlighted throughout the bar with posters, photos and even a life size bike mounted above the bar. With a good selection of beer and bar eats, Handlebar caters to the biking fan. The bar is cash only, so be sure to carry enough.
Located in Downtown New London, the Dutch Tavern on Green Street is a comfortable local sports bar that serves some serious retro beers. It's an old bar that has been open since 1933 and was a watering hole of playwright Eugene O'Neill. There are plenty of beers on tap, like Cottrell Old Yankee Ale, Brooklyn Lager, Guinness and Harpoon IPA. You can even get Schaefer in cans if you want to get that early 20th-century feel. The lunch menu is small, but heart with burgers (including veggie burgers!), soups, hot dogs and sandwiches. As noted on their website, "Baseball takes precedence" at this joint, but you can always expect the best games on the tube.
The Bank Street Cafe in New London is a cozy local cafe and entertainment venue that features performances from local bands and singers. Stop by for some country music and a bite to eat during the daytime.
Mr. G's in New London is a throwback to classic, dive sports bars of yore. This is a neighborhood bar where you can get a great meal, toss back a few beers and watch the Patriots. The menu is enormous and encompasses everyone's favorite cuisines such as Greek, Italian and American. Most come for the plentiful grinders filled with Italian deli meats and huge pizzas. Everything is well-priced, making this s great place to go on a shoestring.
