"Into the Uncertain Past"

Located on the premises of the Ellis Island, which is in close proximity to the Big Apple as well as the Statue of Liberty Monument is the Ellis Island Immigrant Hospital. The hospital was built in the year 1902 in the Georgian Revival style of architecture in order to treat immigrants suffering from contagious diseases. Arrangements were made for patients with non-curable sickness as well as for their families. However, the strict immigrant rules saw a decline in patients and the facility was closed in 1930. It was converted into a museum where you can view the life and working of the hospital on guided tours. The structure is a National Monument as well as has been listed on the U.S Register of Historic Places.
