Set along the restful Hudson River's eastern banks, Fort Washington Park covers more than 160 acres (65 hectares) of beautiful green spaces in New York's Washington Heights. The park was founded as a memorial for the Battle of Fort Washington that occurred in 1776 and remains near the original site of the historic fort. The park annually hosts the much-celebrated Little Red Lighthouse Festival on its grounds.
