In 1931, Lehman College was founded as the Bronx campus of Hunter College. During World War II, Lehman campus was the national training site for women in the military and also functioned as the interim headquarters for the newly formed UNO. The campus is spread over 37-acres and has 15 buildings including Lehman Center for the Performing Arts, Lehman college Art Gallery, and APEX; a world-class facility for sports and recreation.
