Calexico

Named after an the city on the California side of the Mexican border, this restaurant in Greenpoint has a few different recipes other than those from a standard, run-of-the-mill Mexican restaurant. The business started as a food truck that outgrew itself into a couple of brick-and-mortar establishments. To begin, try the Carne Fries, a mix of carne asada, caramelized onions, black beans and guacamole topped on America's classic. Then a few tacos like the Chipotle Pork, the Baja Fish and the Tofu as a healthier option, Calexico makes things quite simple. A range of salads, burritos, enchiladas and rice bowls fill out the rest of the menu, however rest assured that Calexico does bring a taste of the Golden State to Brooklyn.
