Congregation Ahavas Sholom

"City's Oldest Synagogue"

Built in 1923, Ahavas Sholom is the oldest synagogue still in operation in the state. The beautiful synagogue building was constructed in the Classical Revival style, and features fine architectural details. The interiors are no less beautiful, notably the 19th-century Ark that was transported from a synagogue in New York. The synagogue also houses the Jewish Museum of New Jersey, that introduces visitors to the history of the place and hosts numerous exhibitions.
