Opt for a window table in this elegant restaurant, and you can sit and watch city center life go scurrying by while you take your time over the varied menu. The poppadoms, served with a selection of spicy dips, mean you won't get hungry while waiting for your freshly cooked meal to be brought to your table. Tandoori Nights offers a whole host of curry and balti dishes together with a wide range of vegetarian choices and lots of side orders or accompaniments including freshly baked breads. The thali, a selection of small dishes cooked in individual bowls, is particularly fine. A little down the street from the city's Theatre Royal, it can be surprisingly busy even during the week.
