516 ARTS is a two-story gallery dedicated to contemporary art. The gallery holds programs showcasing artists belonging to different cultural backgrounds. The programs include exhibitions, public art projects, workshops, performances, talks, educational activities, and youth programs. Visual and literary arts, film/video and music are covered in these programs.
With a rich historical background, the Guild Cinema is an old theater that was first opened in 1966 as a store. It underwent several changes and was passed down to many owners until 2004. Today, it is one of the only theaters in the city that showcases art films. The cinema calls itself the only independent theater in the city and takes pride in screening multiple-genre movies. It is also available for private hire for parties and other events. Fun for movie buffs doesn't end here- Guild Cinema plays host to popular film festivals like the Troma Dance, International Gay and Lesbian Film Festival, and Summer in the Dark Festival of Film Noir among others.
The city's officials and the community wanted a safe and secure space, where youth and other members of the society can indulge in music, sports, arts and other entertaining activities. With this aim in mind, it purchased the Ice House and transformed it into a bustling art center, namely the Warehouse 508. This center not only makes for an entertainment hub but serves as a platform for young artists. They can display their talent and refine their skills too. Every season, it features excellent shows and performances including concerts, drama and so forth. The Warehouse 508 can also be hired for events and gigs, call ahead for booking details.
Overlooking U.S. Route 66 in Albuquerque, Maple Street Dance Space is a simple dance studio. This dance studio was originally established in the year 2004 and is run by Romy and Tim Keegan. It features full-length mirrors that give an illusion of a bigger room. The studio offers space to host events like dance recitals, practice sessions, performances and more.
The Co-Op serves as Downtown Albuquerque's prime concerts venue, featuring an eclectic line-up throughout the year. The live music space provides a thriving platform for emerging local bands and touring ensembles to showcase their forte to an engaging and a diverse audience. In the past, The Co-Op has hosted the noted metalcore troupe I, the Breather and the punk-metal band On Your Doorstep, among other acclaimed acts.
Located off Coors Boulevard North West in Albuquerque, Open Space Visitor Center is set against the backdrop of the majestic Sandia Mountains.
