Alberton dates from 1863. Starting life as a farmhouse, it was expanded to 18 rooms with exotic towers and verandas on several levels. The estate once comprised extensive farmland, gardens and orchards making it self-sufficient. In its heyday Alberton was famous for balls, garden parties, music and hunting. The grand house contrasts with the attic servant quarters. Original furniture and antique household items remain and the garden contains fine mature trees and a fountain. Alberton is available for cocktail and garden parties, weddings and marquee functions.

The Government House in Auckland, New Zealand was gifted to the Crown in 1962 by Sir Frank Mappin, the last Mappin baronet, where Sir Frank and his wife had lived for 45 years. Originally, the land was built upon in the late 19th Century and on coming into Sir Frank's possession in 1921, its landscape was developed and the residence was built upon it and was named Birchlands. The house is smaller in size when compared to the Wellington House, suitable only as a family residence. The reigning British monarch is resident in the House during any visits. The garden of the House has been designated as a "Garden of National Significance", a status awarded by the New Zealand Gardens Trust. The house is open to public in the month of December and special tour is available by prior appointment.

Howick Historical Village is a recreation of a 19th-century Fencible village. The Fencibles were British soldiers who had fought in wars between the period of 1830 through 1840 and were called to settle in New Zealand to defend the country as and when needed. The Howick Historical Village features 30 colonial structures from that era and chronicles the history of the Fencibles right from their immigration to their settlement and the effect of colonization in the country.
