A visit to the highly unusual Frog Museum in the Swiss town of Münchenstein is sure to leave any tourist in wonder and amazement. Dedicated entirely to the slimy amphibian, the museum has the biggest collection of frog toys in the form of stuffed animals, ceramic statues, traditional dolls and plastic miniatures. It also has a morbid yet remarkable display of actual preserved frogs seated together in form of human style gatherings. The exhibition is so large that includes over 13,000 items and has been included in the Guinness book of world records in 1993. Open every first Sunday of the month between 2.00p and 5.00p, the museum is free to visit and can organizes special tours for groups outside the opening hours.
The little-known southern German town of Weil am Rhein has one major attraction, the Vitra Design Museum, sponsored by the furniture manufacturer Vitra. Art and design lovers from all over the world pay a visit to the small town on the Swiss-German border to admire the selection of designer chairs. One will easily spot the Dom zu Arlesheim also known as Cathedral of Arlesheim while in the city. The structure consists of two domes with crosses affixed on each of them. The face of the church includes a statue of Mary while a large clock is seen on top. As one will enter the church view the beautiful and detailed murals on the ceiling depicting the Ascension. A large organ is located on the upper balcony which is usually used during services.
