Winedale Historical Complex

Sitting on 225 acres (9 hectares) of prairie and Oak savannah, Winedale Historic Complex is a wonderful attraction consisting of multiple wood-framed structures from the 19th century. Open for visitors to tour, where one can expect to see period furnishings and antique décor. Chappell Hill Historical Society Museum aims to preserve and promote the city's history through interactive exhibits and exciting events. The museum is home to a fascinating collection of historic documents, photographs, artifacts and other objects that depict the lifestyle and culture of the city. Visitors can learn about some interesting historical facts and relive some of the most iconic moments in the city's history through a number of intriguing exhibits.

Old Masonic Hall

Located near Belleville in Austin County, TX, the Old Masonic Hall building was used as a church and school till about 1881. It was only in 1886 that the premises were chartered as a Masonic Hall. Members of the Masonic Lodge were prominent citizens and played an important role in political, business and religious aspects of the community. The property was enlisted in the US National Register of Historical Places in 1986.

Washington on the Brazos State Historical Park

In 1836, while the Alamo was under siege, 59 delegates met here at the Brazos State Historical Park to declare independence from Mexico. Located 70 miles northwest of Houston, this 293-acre state park appeals to history buffs and nature lovers alike. You can tour Independence Hall, study the Republic of Texas' unique history at the Star of the Republic Museum, or experience life on a 19th century plantation at Barrington Living History Farm. Facilities include a playground and 26 picnic sites in a pecan grove near the river. This place is daily open to the public at 8am.

Saint Francis Wolf Sanctuary

Saint Francis Wolf Sanctuary gets you up close with one of natures most feared, yet majestic beasts- the wolf. The sizable park doubles up as an animal shelter, housing up to 20 rescued and rehabilitated wolves and wolf dogs. Visitors are handed out a bunch of interesting facts about the animals, and can also learn the stories of some of the parks furry residents. Campfires and howl nights enable you to get closer and strike up a bind with the animals.

Texas Cotton Gin Museum

Tucked away in the quite countryside town of Burton, Texas Cotton Gin Museum takes you through the history of the region's cotton industry. Through a collection of tools, implements, machinery and photographs, visitors are handed a thorough description of the history and evolution of the cotton industry and its relevance and impact on the city. The museum also offers its visitors, the opportunity to pick cotton, and learn about the age old procedures of seed-separation.
