Originally established in 1822, the Central Methodist Mission lies in the city center of Cape Town. The church has been involved in various peacekeeping activities including the Gun Free South Africa project and the World Methodist Council Peace Award Ceremony in honor of Nelson Mandela. The turbulent history of Africa was a trial for the church, but it has persevered to become one of the iconic Gothic structures one can see on Greenmarket Square.

Established in the late 18th century, the Auwal Mosque was the first mosque to be built upon South African soil and can still be found on the Dorp Street. The mosque has a fascinating history, as the construction took place on land that was owned by Ceylon, a freed slave, while its founder was a banished Indonesian prince: Tuan Guru who came to be known as Iman Abdullah Kadi Salaam. The imposing mosque is worth a visit both for its beautiful architecture and its history.

De Anglicaanse kathedraal St. George, thuisbasis van de aartsbisschop en Nobelprijswinnaar Desmond Tutu, is beroemd vanwege de prachtig glas- in lood ramen die het leven uitbeelden van Apostelen, Profeten, Martelaren en Heiligen over de hele wereld. Het fundament voor de huidige kathedraal, ontworpen door Sir Herbert Baker, werd gelegd in 1901, maar pas in 1908 werd de kerk uiteindelijk gebouwd. De Grote Kerk is het oudste officiële gebedshuis van Zuid-Afrika. De kerk is gesticht in 1665 en gebouwd door Herman Schuette. Dit is de belangrijkste Nederlands Hervormde kerk in het land. Het orgel van de kerk, wat hier geïnstalleerd is in de jaren vijftig van de vorige eeuw heeft het ongelofelijke aantal van 5917 pijpen, en zou het grootste orgel van het land zijn.Deze indrukwekkende kerk ligt aan het Kerk Plein, vlakbij Adderen Street.

The Gardens Shul is located on Hatfield Street was established in 1841 and is one of the oldest and largest Hebrew Congregations in South Africa and perhaps even in the whole Southern Hemisphere. The building is an architectural feat and a historic landmark. An active community, the members partake in all of the traditional activities including the Shiurim, Bar Mirzvahs and Zahrtzeit. It also hosts activities like Friday Night Live and Super Shabbos and is known for its mellifluous choir.
