This amazing eatery is located inside Midtown Global Market and is regarded as one of the best places for tortas in the Twin Cities. Manuel Gonzalez, the owner, succeeds in refining Mexico City's favorite sandwich, the torta into a gourmet dish which appeals to both native Mexicans and Americans alike. The tortas at Manny's come loaded with cheese, onion, tomato, lettuce, jalapenos, avocado, fried beans, chipotle pepper mayo, and diverse proteins like eggs, chicken, breaded steak, and Mexican sausage.
Just off the Lumber Exchange Building's glorious two-story marble lobby rests this small eatery. Early risers come at opening for a quick breakfast of tasty pastries, muffins, coffee and juice. Be prepared for a worthwhile wait at lunch as the crowd lines up for what is perhaps the best gyro in town. Previously only a food truck company, the Red River Kitchen is now a cozy place to go to grab some food or an after-work drink. The bar is located in the historic City House, which has been restored as a park pavilion and given the title of a national heritage site. Though known for their great selection of craft beer, zippy cocktails, cider and wine, the hearty food is also worth trying out. With views of the Mississippi river, the bar also makes for a nice spot for a date night. The Red River Kitchen opens seasonally, and remains closed for the winter.
