Igreja da Sé a famous catholic church located in the historic center of Macau. It was originally built in 1576 as a tribute to the Virgin Mary. The main building consists of a bell tower, flanked by chapels on either side, with its entrance marked by a magnificent facade. The interiors of the church are reminiscent of Portuguese cathedrals with elevated ceilings, arched windows, and a minimalistic altar. If you're a lover of Neoclassical architecture, this is a must visit.

Fisherman's Wharf is one of Macau's most popular theme parks which resembles a European wharf. The park is divided into 3 different segments: Dynasty Wharf, Legend Wharf, and East Meets West with the Dynasty Wharf featuring structures identical to the ones found during the Tang Dynasty. East Meets West is a blend of Cantonese and European cultures which includes artificial volcanoes, waterfalls, Ancient Greek structures, an Arabic-themed play area for children and a wide range of shopping options. The Legend Wharf offers an array of recreation facilities.

Mandarin's House was once the family home of the late Zheng Guanying, one of China's most respected reformers during the 19th Century. The house covers about 43,055 square feet (4000 square meters), making it one of the biggest ancestral homes in Macau. His family moved out of the house during the early 1960's and it turned into a residential complex. The house is open to the public and provides guided tours around the property. If you're a person who enjoys great architecture, then Mandarin's House should be at the top of your visiting list.

Taking center stage along the outer harbor waterfront is this breathtaking statue of the Goddess of Mercy. Kun Iam, or Guan Yin, is the most popular goddess amongst Buddhists and plays a special role in protecting children, in addition to bringing wealth. Inaugurated by the Portuguese president Jorge Sampaio, the statue was designed by noted Portuguese artist, Cristina Rocha Leiria. The 48 polished bronze plates that make up the 20-meter (65.62 feet) tall statue were crafted in Nanjing and bolted together on site. The giant lotus flower pedestal is home to the Ecumenical Centre, which provides information on China's major religions.

Inspired by Auckland's Sky Tower, Macau Tower Convention & Entertainment Centre is a towering landmark in the city. Considered to be among the top 10 largest towers in the world, it soars at 338 meters (1109 feet) and dominates the city's skyline. Besides conference and convention facilities, it is also among the best entertainment and adventure spots. From shopping to movies, bungee jumping and dining, there is a lot one can do. For those wanting entire view of the city, head to the observation deck. The Adventure Deck with its sky-walk and tower climb, will certainly be exciting.

Where once the Barra Fort stood guard over the mouth of the inner harbor, the Gate of Understanding now celebrates Sino-Portuguese friendship. Designed by Charters de Almeida, the 40-meter (131 foot) tall structure is made of a concrete core clad in black granite slabs. Do not stand too close though, as some slabs have come hurtling down in the past! Although this giant monolith has been standing since 1992, the road that runs right past it is as yet unnamed, so for a closer look and photo opportunities, it is easiest just to head for the Avenida da República.

Rua do Cunha is one of Macau's most famous streets, named after the legendary Portuguese explorer and naval commander Tristão da Cunha. This is one of the best places to get your hands on some of Macau's local cuisine, as it is home to a horde of small-scale eateries. O Santos, Koi Kei, Ginger Candy, Pastelaria Fong Kei and Mok Yee Kei are some of the most trusted and popular eateries that you will find here. There are also a lot of souvenir and gift shops here, making it a popular destination among tourists.
