Housed in the basement of the gothic Town Hall building in the heart of Munich, Ratskeller is a good place to stop by for a sumptuous lunch or a leisurely romantic dinner. The menu is solely inspired by traditional Bavarian cuisine, so you can sample some really great local dishes which are interspersed on the lengthy menu. If you're a first-timer then go for the Ratskeller Potatosoup, Nuremberg Style Bratwurst, Scweinebraten, Entenbraten or Beef Goulasch. Pair the food with German beer and wine, and round it off with a helping of something sweet. The cellar's arched ceilings and woodwork add to the charming ambiance as do the sounds of soft Bavarian melodies.

The line snakes out the door all night long and party-goers in need of regenerative calories crowd the entryway hoarding paper trays of the Bergwolf's specialty, Currywurst, a large sausage cut into bite-sized pieces and smothered in a curry ketchup sauce. Vegetarians can go for the piping hot French fries smothered in ketchup and mayonnaise, called “Rotweiß” (red/white), and those watching their waistline can order the 'Jogger's' version: without mayo. Located in the neighborhood of Maxvorstadt, Alter Simpl has been one of the most loved places since 1905. This rustic bar is usually one of the favorite spots for artists, painters, singers, musicians and readers to spend time and catch up over beer and unique cocktails. There are many good mid-priced Indian restaurants in Munich and Swagat is one in the elite club. If you have a hankering for curry, stop by here and enjoy their slow-cooked, deeply flavored and spiced curries, washed down with a good brew. You could also try some of their lighter dishes, including their tasty onion bhajis and samosas. If you're an indecisive diner, there is a range of thalis (combination of dishes) on offer, including a vegetarian one.

Don Luca has two locations in Munich, both full of Mexican kitsch and a certain cozy-meets-mass-produced flair. Enjoy the well-priced cocktails, which are even cheaper during happy hour. The "Top Five" specials are a must try and include hits like the Touchdown, Mai Tai and Caipi. The food, though not authentic Mexican, is decent. But the Giant Pizza Special on Mondays, available at a bargain price, will feed at least three hungry people, and cocktail slurpers will also love the cheese smothered Nachos and the toasty Quesadillas.
