Café Brazil is a Dallas institution and while there are a few locations around town, each one distinctly represents the area it's located. The two main locations are in Deep Ellum and by Southern Methodist University and both are open 24/7. It is quite common to see students burning the midnight oil, people getting out of the clubs, truck drivers and attorneys at all hours tucking into the great food. The sandwiches are on thick slices of homemade bread and piled high with toppings. The omelets are made with farm fresh eggs and served with rosemary potatoes and grilled bread. The Brazilian Beef Sandwich is piled high with beef fajitas, mushrooms, bell peppers on homemade herb wheat bun and the Barbecue Salmon with fried sweet potatoes and Steamed Broccoli is amazing. There are 7 different choices daily for your bottomless cup of coffee kick.
This neighborhood bar is reminiscent of the pubs across the Atlantic. Operated by the owners of the Meridian Room, Simon McDonald and Mike Smith, this bar seeks to offer their customers a friendly, unassuming place to dine, meet, and drink. The loaded bar offers all that you would expect and then some, including the ever-popular British favorite, Pimms, as well as a Woodchuck Raspberry Cider and various imported ales. The menu offers a smoked salmon appetizer plate, herbed pork loin chop, and beer-braised beef short ribs. The service, along with the food, is all top notch so don't be hesitant to drop on in and check it out.
Bring your Mom here so she can replicate some of the incredible, home-cooked dishes served here daily! If you come here more than once, you'll notice more regulars than at any other place in Dallas. Specialties include the Chicken Fried Steak ("smothered steak" to those who didn't grow up in the South!) and the excellent, tender Pot Roast. Hot, flaky biscuits are served with most meals and the chocolate cream pie is among the finest ever made.
