Sir John A. MacDonald Parkway is a picturesque parkway that follows the banks of the Ottawa River. The parkway comprises of a four-lane road along with a recreational path that runs along its length. The main road can be traversed by private cars while the recreational path is meant exclusively for cyclists and pedestrians. Frequented by both locals and tourists, the path allows people to enjoy scenic river views while cycling or walking. The 9.5 kilometer (5.90 miles) stretch also doubles up as a commuter artery for travel between the neighborhoods of West End and Downtown.
