Notable figures the museum covers include, among others, former Governor John Motley Morehead, O. Henry and David Caldwell. Exhibitions here are both of the permanent kind as well as those that are held for only a limited time.
Southwest Park affords a fun day out in Guilford County. The 513 acres includes hiking trails, two baseball diamonds, picnic areas, a dog park, and boating and fishing on the Randleman Regional Reservoir. Besides being a recreational area, the park also strives to create natural habitats for native birds, so visitors will see many bird feeders and bird houses sprinkled around the grounds.
In Barber Park, sports enthusiasts will find the Simkins Indoor Sports Pavilion, the Penn-Wright Baseball Stadium, an 18-hole golf course that is available to everyone free of charge, and a walking trail. The park also contains picnic areas, a playground, and an open-air amphitheater that can be rented for shows and concerts. Sprayground is perfect for hot days when your kids want to play in the water, and also includes a concessions area. The park is open from 8a until sunset. Center City Park sits on 1.9 acres (0.77 hectares) right in the center of downtown Greensboro. The Greensboro Cultural Center, the city's history museum and the YWCA are also nearby which makes great use of the park. What's more is that one of the main contributions the park serves is as a meeting spot for residents to assemble for events like free outdoor movie screenings or live musical performances.
