Built in the Mayan Revival style, John Sowden House dates back to 1926. It was the residence of the popular photographer and artist John Sowden and was constructed by Lloyd Wright. The prime highlight of the house is its striking facade that resembles a shark's open mouth. Some people also refer it similar to a Mayan temple. The house has been popular on TV and has featured in a few episodes of the popular reality show, "America's Next Top Model". Today, it is open to events and private parties.

The Los Angeles County Arboretum & Botanic Garden makes for a great place to visit with your family. Spanning an area of 127 acres, this place also features a beautiful lake where numerous waterfowl can be spotted. Here, you will find a variety of ornamental plants and flowers. Peacocks and more than 200 species of birds can also be observed. Occasionally, the grounds are open to families for picnics as well. The garden also offers educational tours for schools and other groups.
Angels Gate Park has a number of unique attractions like the Korean Friendship Bell, Fort MacArthur Military Museum, or the Point Fermin Lighthouse. The Korean Friendship Bell is no doubt the most attractive. The twelve-feet-high, intricately decorated copper bell and the pagoda-like pavilion cost over a 500,000 dollars to build and was given as a gift by South Korea in 1976. It is not hard to imagine that weddings are popular in this heavenly setting. Always bring a jacket as the hillside is very windy, which also makes it popular for flying kites.
