Located atop Mount Royal, this cross was erected as a gesture of thanking God for protecting this region from floods.
Christ Church Cathedral is nestled within the central region of the city and has been serving it since the early 19th century. Designed by famed architect Frank Wills, Christ Church Cathedral is a great example of 19th-century Neo-Gothic architecture. Inspired by the Gothic-style churches of the 14th century, the cathedral displays some impressive architecture through intricate designs and awe-inspiring stone-work. Its aluminium steeple, square crossing tower and stone spire are some of its key features, which were considered a rare sight in its time.
Located in the historic district of Old Montreal, 500 Place D'Armes is one of the tallest buildings in the city. Designed by architects Jacques David and Pierra Boulva, the building towers more than 430 feet (133 meters). Originally built as the Banque Canadienne Nationale Tower, the structure boasts of 32 stories and doubles up as a popular landmark on Montreal's skyline.
Created in 1869, as home to the 65th Regiment of the Canadian Army, the Les Fusiliers Mont-Royal is one of the oldest units still standing. Located on Henri-Julien Avenue, the site now functions as a museum that archives medals, artifacts, documents, photographs and various other ephemera associated with the unit. The museum offers regular tours and is open to public on Tuesdays from 6.30p to 9p and Mondays through Fridays by appointment alone.
Anchored by a long glass-covered promenade, the World Trade Centre Montréal fuses the facades of eleven historic buildings to form a contemporary look that is both practical and breathtaking. The promenade is built on the Ruelle des Fortifications, following the original lines of the city's 18th Century walls. It features a spectacular black granite fountain. It is connected to the Underground City.
The Pied-du-Courant Prison is a prison that had prisoners from the rebellion and currently, it houses the Prison-des-Patriotes that displays collection pertaining to the Lower Canada rebellion.
