The Anthill Pub on the UC Irvine campus has a a great drink selection and amazing pub food menu. If you're not sure what to order the fire ants dish, buffalo popcorn chicken with Louisiana hot sauce and blue cheese dipping sauce, is especially good. The rotating beer menu is carefully curated and has one of the best selections in all of Irvine - the fact that this is on a college campus is a recipe for an interesting atmosphere. Live music and other events are held here often.
The Sandpiper Lounge is a late-night spot that has been a local favorite in Laguna Beach since the 1940s. Also known as "The Dirty Bird," this dive bar tends to get crowded and crazy with the live musicians that keep everyone going late into the night. The lounge is a great hangout where you will hear good music and have a memorable night.

Class of '47 is a locally-owned dive bar that serves very cheap and very basic drinks. If you're looking for fancy cocktails and martinis, this is not the place for you. Here you can grab a drink every night of the week in a casual setting that takes pride in the fact that, despite what its name might suggest, this joint has "no class."
This saloon has established itself as one of the most popular watering holes in Orange County with plenty of beer, music and friendly faces to talk to. If you are squeamish about huge sea animals that have paid a trip to the friendly neighborhood taxidermist, you might not like all the stuffed sharks adorning the walls. However, it adds a touch of the nautical to this Balboa Island bar.
Bootlegger's Brewery is one of Orange County's premiere small artisan breweries, using a small batch process to brew their beers which leads to incredible creativity in the beermaking process and, of course, final product. The Bootlegger's tasting room allows beer lovers to taste most, if not all, their craft brews either on tap by the half pint or pint or you can pick up bottled beers, growlers and kegs to go. The brewery has five beers available year round: their hefeweisen, pale ale, IPA, "Black Phoenix" chipotle coffee stout and "Golden Chaos" Belgian-style golden ale. In addition to these regular beers, there are an additional 13 seasonal and limited release beers available throughout the year, ranging from mint chocolate porter and pumpkin ale to browns, double IPAs and more.
This bar, located on the Newport Beach boardwalk, is a great place to unwind after a long day of sightseeing. It is particularly ideal during sunset, when the views over the ocean are breathtaking. You won't see tourists here since the locals have claimed this place as their own. Instead, you will see a real slice of Newport Beach life when you spend a few hours here people-watching and eavesdropping on interesting conversations. The bar serves great drinks and there are several good beers on tap.
The decor here is definitely unique, with World War II paraphernalia and antique signs covering the walls among many other interesting artifacts. There are tons of beers from all over the world available, and it is a good thing because the dizzying decor may drive you to drink. There are several rooms, as well as an outdoor patio where one can soak up the Costa Mesa sun. It is a little bit of a dive bar, but the decor makes up for any seediness.
Tony's Place is a casual bar where you can play pool, drink beer, and listen to classic rock on the juke box. You don't need to feel pressured into dressing up because it's a relaxed environment to mingle with friends, drown your sorrows, or take the edge off after a day's work. Tony's Place isn't aiming to be the new "it" spot; it is what it is: a classic dive bar.
