A big favorite with locals and visitors alike, the Promenade des Anglais stretches along the seashore for several kilometers. The promenade's characteristic blue chairs provide the perfect vantage point from which to take in the expanse of the azure blue sea that stretches out before you. It took its current form in 1822, when Lewis Way, an Englishman who lived in Nice during the winter months, financed the promenade you see now. It is free of charge, whether you wish to stroll along its length or bask in the warmth of Nice's sun.
Marc Chagall is famous for his works inspired by Jewish folklore, and this museum reveals a deeply mystical poet in him. Chagall was born in Russia in 1887 and passed away near Nice at St Paul-de-Vence in 1985. His interpretations of the Bible are presented on vast canvasses, blending candid forms with a poetry of colors. The bright and spacious Musée Marc Chagall boasts some of the finest of his works. At the entrance, a small bookshop stocks a number of publications about Chagall and his art, as well as prints of his work.
Though this cathedral is located in Nice, it is actually the property of the Russian Federation. The cathedral was founded and opened by Tsar Nicholas II in 1912, and is representative of Russia's presence in the Riviera. Like many of the area's visitors, Russian nobility found Nice to be utterly charming, and wanted to spend as much time there as possible. Thus, their Tsar founded a cathedral that they could attend while vacationing in France. Its coral colored facade ornamented with blue onion dome tops is reminiscent of Soviet architecture. Cathedrale Orthodoxe Russe St-Nicolas is one of the largest Russian Orthodox cathedrals in the western hemisphere. Visitors to the church can wander around the beautiful interiors or attend a service on Sundays.

With simple lines and a highly representational technique, the works of artist Sylvie T., closely resemble architectural drawings which bring out all the natural beauty and detail of Nice. She chooses her subject and setting, then vividly reproduces a narrow winding street here, a belfry there, and then adds only a few subtle but highly effective touches of colour. The result is strikingly beautiful, so much that a well-known Niçois publisher used her drawings to illustrate a book on the heritage of Vieux-Nice.
