Peter's Gourmade Grill, right on the edge of Tustin, from its opening quickly became a hot spot for delicious gourmet burgers and sandwiches. Aside from things between bread, there are some appetizers, salad and main dish options too, some classic American and some with a Mediterranean or Mexican twist. The grill is in an old gas station so enjoy the unique surroundings as you dig into your meal.
Shabu Shabu, one of the most popular Japanese eateries in Santa Ana, is also rumored to feature a fantastic and impressive sake collection. Located on 17th Street, the charming restaurant, done up with deep reds and oriental elements, welcomes and usually caters to large groups and families. The food menu, on the other hand, is built around the shabu shabu-style (Japanese hotpot) of cooking where the diners choose a main ingredient, usually a meat, and cook it in boiling water along with various other herbs, condiments and spices - the result is a truly delicious, exotic meal that the entire family create and can enjoy together! Although meat and poultry preparations such as kobe beef and rib-eye shabu shabu are highly recommended, their vegan and vegetarian selections are quite delectable as well. Don't forget to complement this wonderful meal, with one of their sake drinks; take the help the courteous waitstaff if necessary - they'll be happy to help!
Fisherman's Restaurant and Bar alone makes a visit to San Clemente worthwhile. The restaurant has two sections that sandwich the entrance of San Clemente Pier. One section is more formal than the other, but how much will this glorious view cost you? As low as USD3 for a happy hour meal - no catch whatsoever! Of course, the seafood is a must-try and the oyster bar is awesome (as well as the regular bar). A sourdough bowl of clam chowder is not to be missed. Here, what you also get is a taste of San Clemente culture, probably the most laid back in Orange County. -Hoiyin Ip
Ruby's Shake Shack has been around since the 1940's. It is a little hidden from the road, but the crowd of vehicles parked in front makes it easily visible. As the name implies, the shack is about milkshakes, and it's originally famous for the date shake, which is so thick it makes a straw practically useless. The best part of the Shake Shack, though, is their outdoor benches. Although rustic, these benches on the bluff top of a secluded area provide the best spot for sunset watching.
