University of Massachusetts Dartmouth, often called UMass Dartmouth, is a small university that focuses on academics. Founded in 1895 as New Bedford Textile School and the Bradford Durfee Textile School in Fall River, this college has changed its name several times but always remained a distinguished place of learning. The Stephen Northup House is a historic two-storey house that dates back to the 1600s. The original building has been restored after been burned during the King Philip's War. In 1985, the house was added to the National Register of historic Places. The house now has two additional structures and is owned by the Bogue family who have restored all the interiors.
This historic lighthouse built in the 18th century is a remarkable structure with a towering height of 47 feet (14 meters) along with an attached keeper’s den. This beautiful lighthouse located on the northern tip of Conanicut Island was used to guide for smooth sailing of the ships in the region until 1933. Added to the National Register of Historic Places, the lighthouse sits on a private residence with no access for visitors. To get an ideal view of this stunning lighthouse, one must get into the waters via boat. Another common spot to get a distant view from the street – is at the northern end of the island along the main road.
Listed in the National Register of Historic Places, the Osborn–Bennett Historic District is a significant attraction in the town of Tiverton. Comprising architectural marvels such as the Benjamin Barker House, Osborn House and Joseph Hicks House, the district is a haven form history buffs. The cemetery here is also the burial ground of the erstwhile Osborn family.
